The Family Fitness RoutineI met some people who have
a routine, and a few interesting rules, in their
house. One of which is: no one is allowed to pack on the
pounds. (Hmmm... maybe I should follow that rule...)
Now, you may be thinking this is
oppressive and cruel, but I assure you it's not. These
people decided long ago not to let their children
and themselves adopt poor eating habits and become
overweight. So far so good. With the eating habits of todays
kids I find it surprising, even with their rule, that
their seven year old son loves
fruits and vegetables
!
It's pretty obvious that they did a great job
when he chooses grapes over chocolate. It's all about what
you get used to and if you grow up with good food, and not
junk, you'll like good food. Furthermore, a decent family
fitness regime is also wonderful, and they've been sticking to
one for years. At this point I don't think they can imagine
life without it.
It's wise to have a plan. Not just any plan, but a healthy
plan. One that involves a healthy diet and exercise. If you
have a spouse and children, then I highly recommend a family
fitness program. This way everyone will get involved. The great
thing about doing these routines together is the support
aspect. You can each offer one another your support and make
certain everyone is getting their regular exercise in.
Also, you can keep an eye on what each of you are consuming
regularly. For our family I have found that the best way to
avoid junk food is to not bring it into the house. Make sense?
It may sound a bit simple as far as solutions go, but I assure
you it works. It's a lot harder to eat it if it's
not there.
On the other hand, if there is a bag of chips or box of
chocolates sitting on the countertop, you will eat it. You'll
get the sudden urge and you'll give in. Obliterate the
temptation. Keep healthy snack foods around instead. Then this
is what we'll end up eating. So much revolves around
convenience and disclipline is a lot easier if the tempation
isn't there.
So, what current program are you into? Do you already have a
decent and effective family fitness routine in progress? If the
answer is no, but you are willing to give one a shot, then here
is where you can begin. Like everything else these days, you
can acquire a quality family fitness program from the local gym
or off the web. Surf through net-land and find an ideal workout
and diet regime that best suits your family and your family's
lifestyle. It's not that difficult once you get into the swing
of things.
